Gorge.
1. (Fortification.) A line joining the inner extremities of a work; as, — [997] A line drawn between the rear ends of the faces of a redan. A line across the narrow portion of a bastion, from the points of junction of its flanks with the curtains.
2. (Masonry.) A small groove at the under side of a coping, to keep the drip from reaching the wall. A throat.
3. (Nautical.) The groove or score of a pulley.
