1. (Ordnance.) A short cylinder at the junction of a trunnion with the gun. It is an enlargement or shoulder to the trunnion which forms the journal to the piece in elevating or depressing. See cannon.


2. (Small-arms.) The shoulder on the stock of a musket against which the breech of the barrel rests.
