φωνεῖν, exclamatory: Aesch. Eum. 837“ἐμὲ παθεῖν τάδε”. It was common in colloquial Attic; see e.g. Vesp. 835 “βάλλ᾽ ἐς κόρακας: τοιουτονὶ τρέφειν κύνα”. For this inf. with the article added, see Ph. 234“φεῦ τὸ καὶ λαβεῖν” (n.). ἔτλη, of what one brings oneself to do; here, ‘deigned.’ Cp. 528, Tr. 158.
