Major Robert S. Garnett, of Essex county, U. S. A., one of General Tayler's staff officers in the arduous campaign conducted by that distinguished General in Mexico, has sent his resignation to the Secretary of War, and is no longer in the service of the late United States. Major G. will enter the service of the South. All of the true sons of the Old Dominion are flocking to her aid. She is truly rich in the possession of noble sons.
