The subject to παρόμοιον is something like τὸ τῆς εὐνοίας, i.e. the question of (gratitude for) benefits (in politics).

ὅπερ. The antecedent is τούτῳ understood.

ἂν μὲν γὰρ κ.τ.λ., i.e. ἂν σώσῃ τις ὅσ᾽ ἂν λάβῃ.

συνανήλωσε, momentary aorist.

τὸ μεμνῆσθαι τὴν χάριν. A genitive would be more usual, but cf. Phil. ii. § 30, τοὺς ἀδικοῦντας μεμνῆσθαι. The reading has been suspected without due reason.

τῶν πραγμάτων, “politics.”

οὐδ᾽ εἰ. Regularly put for καὶ εἰ . . . οὐ.

πρὸς, “in accordance with.”

ἐκβάν, “result.” ἀποβαίνειν is commoner in this sense.

τῶν πρὶν ὑπαρξάντων are the opportunities which they have squandered all along, and for which they feel no gratitude.
