παῦλαν, subject to τυχεῖν: cp. 275 “οἰ̔̂ αὐτοῖς τύχοι”. This is better than to make “παῦλαν” the object of “τυχεῖν” as =‘obtain’: since the acc. after “τυγχάνω” is elsewhere a neut. pron. or adj., or art. with inf. ( Ant. 778 n.). The correction of the MS. ἐντυχεῖν to ἂν τυχεῖν seems certain. In Aesch. P. V. 667“κεἰ μὴ θέλοι, πυρωπὸν ἐκ Διὸς μολεῖν” | “κεραυνόν, ὃς πᾶν ἐξαϊστώσοι γένος”, the future sense of the simple aor. inf. is sufficiently marked by the context. μήποτ̓. The use of “μή” here is due to the notion of ‘feeling confident,’ not to the imperat.: see on O. T. 1455“τοσοῦτόν γ᾽ οἶδα, μήτε μ᾽ ἂν νόσον” | “μήτ᾽ ἄλλο πέρσαι μηδέν”.
