Cotton in abundance.
--The following paragraph, from the Lynchburg
Republican, will not only astonish many, but will be accepted as good news.
Cotton and tobacco in abundance would soon restore to the
South much of her former wealth and prosperity:
‘
"We learn that the evening trains on the Orange and Alexandria railroad are to be discontinued after next Tuesday.
The facilities for transportation have not been sufficient to accommodate the freight, and consequently an immense amount of cotton has accumulated at the depot, which they have been unable to forward to its destination.
The discontinuance of the night passenger train will enable them to remove this important freight, and it is to be done for that purpose."
