Socrates
Now the just man must wish to do what is just?

Gorgias
Apparently.

Socrates
Hence the just man will never wish to act unjustly?

Gorgias
That must needs be so.

Socrates
But it follows from our statements¹ that the rhetorician must be just.

Gorgias
Yes.

Socrates
Hence the rhetorician will never wish to do wrong.

Gorgias
Apparently not.

Socrates
Then do you remember saying a little while ago that
