A horse Thief sent to the penitentiary.

--A negro by the name of Claiborne Briggs was arraigned before Judge McEntee on Saturday, charged with horse stealing. The animal in question was stolen from Charles R. Cullen, of Hanover, on last Wednesday night. It was found in the possession of the prisoner, and identified by Mr. Cullen as his property.

Briggs pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to the Virginia penitentiary, at hard labor, for the term of three years.
