Proceedings in the Courts.

Hustings Court, Monday, Nov. 10.
--The regular monthly tern of the Hustings Court commenced to-day at 11 o'clock, Recorder James K. Caskie presiding.

William Willett, of New Orleans, was examined for stealing a pair of shoes from M. C. Gordon & Co., and sent on for trial before Judge Lyons.

William E. Jones, of the 6th South Carolina regiment, was examined for shooting and killing H. Snow, a Louisiana soldier, Sunday before last, on Broad street. It was pretty clearly shown by all the witnesses that Snow belonged to a gang of ruffians who had set upon Jones for the purpose of beating him without any provocation, and that he in a fit of desperation had shot him for the purpose of escaping serious and undeserved bodily harm. Jones was acquitted.

The Grand Jury assembled and were sworn in, George W. Smith acting as foreman. After retiring to their room and examining a large number of witnesses, they returned into Court with indictments against the following parties for misdemeanor, viz: Elias Vanderlip and George Wilkinson, Elias and Mary Vanderlip, Anthony Bradley, Charles, Mitchell, Mary Stephens, John F. Hockaday, Josephine DcMerritt, Mary Brown, Kate Clinton, Anna Lewis, Belle Jones, John R. Blankinship, Timothy Lotsey, Samuel W. Chipley, Margaret Paffey, Andrew J. Winn, Britton Allen, John M. Michie.

Richard D. Mitchell was presented for an assault on Wm. H. Beveridge.

The Grand Jury returned the misdemeanor presentments against Patrick Shahes. Wm. B. Cooke, and Henry W. Lee, ‘"not true bills,"’

The Court sits again to-day at 11 o'clock.

Mayor's Court--Monday, Nov. 10. --Washington Thomas, a soldier, found by the city police on the sidewalk drunk, was sent to Gen. Winder.

Charles Summers, charged with stealing a pocketbook from John A. Farrell, containing three dollars, a soldier's discharge, and other papers, was remanded for indictment by the Hustings Court Grand Jury.

Charles Grace was committed to jail in default of $200 ball for his good behavior, on the charge of behaving disorderly in the street, while drank, and assaulting his wife. Willie Grace, son of the above named, was sent to prison for want of surety in a like amount for resisting the police in the discharge of their duty and behaving disorderly.

Hannah, slave of Thomas T. Emmett, was committed for going at large contrary to law.

James Carson, arrested on the charge of stealing a pair of boots from Lawrence Johnson, was discharged after an examination.

Peter Manning, charged with picking the pocket. of John H. Leonard of $9.75 and a pair of gloves, worth $5, in a restaurant on Wall street early on Sunday morning, was acquitted. The accused and accuser were both fined one dollar each for violating a city ordinance by getting drunk.

Stephen West, a negro from Northampton county, without free papers, arrested for being drunk, was sent aboard the steamer Patrick Henry, where he belonged.

Cornelius McMahon, charged with riotous conduct in the street while drunk, was acquitted on the first allegation, and fined a dollar for being drunk. While cavorting about he had smashed his watch into ‘"smithereens,"’ and it locked as if it would never ‘"go" ’ again, unless carried.
