A brave officer wounded.

We regret to learn that Capt. T. L. Rosser, of the 2d company Washington Artillery, was wounded in the skirmish at Mechanicsville on Saturday morning. He had command of his own and other artillery on the occasion. After fighting for some time, and while engaged in posting a piece to protect it from the enemy's fire, he was struck by the fragment of a shell, which tors the flesh from his right arm, causing a severs lacerated wound. His horse was also shot under him. About this time the order came for our force to fall back, and the artillery withdrew from the field in beautiful style, in the face of the fire of the enemy. In this engagement, it is perhaps unnecessary to add, the Washington Artillery maintained the high reputation it has won in many previous engagements. Capt. Rosser is now in the city at the house of Dr. Gibson, on Franklin street.
