Suspicious characters.

--Yesterday morning three persons — Wm. Conners, James McGibbons, and Edward Ragan — were before the Mayor, charged with being suspicious characters and without visible means of support. Donners is an old offender, probably twenty years of age, and not much larger than a loaf of bread. Time and again he had been in Court to answer for robbery, but generally escaped punishment because of his infantile appearance. He says he is now engaged in selling newspapers, by which he supports his brother and sister; but the Mayor thinks he takes other and shorter means of raising the wind. The other two are known to the police, and for that reason the trio were locked up in default of bail for their good behavior.
