Mayor's Court.
--The attendance at the
Mayor s matinee yesterday was by no means numerous, and even some of the usually punctual visitors were among the missing.
One came in at a late hour, presenting a rubicund visage, which contrasted strangely with the look so long sicklied o'er the pale cast of thought, and on inquiry we learned that the destruction of silver-top, during the previous night, had been frightful.
In the prisoner's box were four or five strangers who had imbibed too much of the sweet oblivious antidote, and as a consequence fell into the hands of the Phiristines and were disposed of in the usual way.
Francis Sheridan, charged with complicity in the murder of
William Clarke, having been again taken into custody, was present, but his examination was postponed.
Wilham, slave of
K. Coleman, was awarded 39 lashes for assaulting and cutting another negro.
George, slave of
Louisa Burton, was brought up on the charge of stealing a bridle and a horse collar, and apprehending that he might also steal a force if he was permitted to go at large, the
Mayor sent him to jail.
