Office Provost-Marshal-General, Brown's Mill Creek, Ga., June 4, 1864.
General: I have the honor to report herewith the number of prisoners of war and deserters disposed of by the assistant provostmarshal-general at Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn., which have been received by them during the month of May, 1864.

Colonel : I have the honor to report the operations of my command for the month of June, as follows:

June 1, Hooker's, Howard's, and Palmer's corps were confronting the enemy's position at New Hope Church, near Dallas, Ga., with McCook's division of cavalry on the left of the army guarding the approaches from the direction of Acworth and Marietta.

June 2, General Hooker's corps having been relieved in the position it occupied on the right of my army by General McPhersons' troops, moved in support of the Army of the Ohio, Major-General Schofield commanding, and occupied the hills on the extreme left of my line which had been previously held by Stoneman's and Mc-Cook's divisions of cavalry, McCook taking post on the left of Schofield on the Dallas and Acworth road. Baird's division, of Palmer's corps, moved up from Burnt Hickory, and took up a position in reserve behind Johnson's division, of the same corps. Davis' division, of Palmer's corps, relieved General Schofield's troops at the same time that General Hooker was relieved by General McPherson's command. As soon as the troops got into their new positions Schofield's and Hooker's corps, and Baird's division, of Palmer's corps, swung round toward the right, skirmishing with the enemy as
