μηδένα is both subject and object; this double use of a word is frequent in H. (e.g. viii. 142. 3). For compensation in mitigation of punishment cf. Sandoces, vii. 194. 2. The principle was extended to religion; in modern Parseeism every offence and every good deed has a price, and so a balance is struck (S. B. E. iv. 99 n.).
