dare say that some of you, reflecting that the fellow has first been made a
citizen, and thereafter has been decorated with crowns of gold, are astonished
that it has been such an easy task to delude you so completely. Well, you may be
quite sure, men of Athens, that you
have been deluded; and I will explain why such a result was to be expected. You
have plenty of good judgement; but you do not apply it persistently.
