Dataphernes
(
Δαταφέρνης), a Persian in the confidence of Bessus, and one of those who betrayed him to
Alexander, B. C. 329.
He joined Spitamenes, satrap of Sogdiana, in his revolt, and, when their cause became desperate, took refuge among the Dahae, who, on hearing of the death of Spitamenes, delivered him up in chains to
Alexander. (Ar.
