Pythis

a sculptor, who made the marble quadriga, by which the celebrated Mausoleum was surmounted. (Plin. Nat. 36.5. s. 4.9). Considering the close resemblance of this sculptor's name, in Pliny, to some of the readings of the name of the architect of the Mausoleum, in Vitruvius, it seems not improbable that they may have been the same person. In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
