als that the "rich fields and beautiful gardens" they painted in glowing colors to their soldier-rabble, assure to be the reward for sordid deeds of blood committed on her soil, instead of being "a good deal trampled on," (in their language,) preparatory to an easy allotment, are far more likely to be converted by their brave owners into burialgrounds for the destroying villians who shall attempt to pollute them with their tread.--Much sympathy and anxiety are felt by the Government and people here for Virginia. They know her bold secession will make her the "Flanders" of the threatened terrible war, and men and women seem alike anxious to rush to her rescue. Information concerning her is received with eager and painful interest. As I close, a salute of twenty guns is being fired, by order of Gen. Walker, in honor of the secession of Arkansas and Tennessee.--Two more stars have been added to our firmamament--two more stripes erased from the standard of oppression. Montgomery.

Virginia Life Guard. --Captain J. Stewart Walker's company will be mustered into service to-morrow. Owing to the fact that a number of the members were railroad employees and telegraph operators, the effective force has been reduced to sixty-five men. The officers are exceedingly anxious to get fifteen more. Persons desiring to join the company will therefore make application to-day. The company use the Enfield rifle.
