Suffolk, Virginia. --A correspondent of the Charleston Mercury, writing from Suffolk Virginia, thus alludes to the new commander of that post, General G. W. Randolph, and his operations: General Randolph is the same Colonel Randolph, of Bethel Church. His headquarters are here, and since his arrival very little of the country has been left unexplored; he seems indefatigable. Forces have been ordered to this post, and, are long, quite a camp will be here. A company of the First regiment South Carolina volunteers, Captain McIntosh, is now drilling as light artillerists. They have fine guns — howitzers and rifle guns. With these and several regiments reported to have seen ordered hither, we may do a little damage.
