ts have reached the lower mouth of the Vicksburg canal. One small boot has passed into Like Providence. The water is rushing into the lake at a rapid rate. Another cut off is reported 60 miles below Helena, by which to Yazoo city and Halves Bluff can be had. The Federal at Fort Palmerton, or Greenwood, are still held in check by the rebel battery. St. Louis, March 24.--A gentleman just from Vicksburg states that the steamer Diligent with the 8th Miscount, had succeeded in entering Yazoo river, above Haines Bluff. A light draught gunboat and four iron-clads followed. Several thousand man have gone up. The count was through Cypress Bayon which deb ches into the Yazoo opposite Johnson's plantation, and thence through Steele as Bayon into the flower, which empties into the Yazoo 20 miles above Baires Bluff. If this be so our fores are now in the rear of Yazoo city, and by reducing that port and Fort Pemberton may place Vicksburg in our hands. It was rumored that Haines Bluff
