American affairs were still discussed in the British Parliament where Mr. Bright made a speech on the 17th ult. condemning the outlay incurred by the policy which terminated in the surrender of Messrs. Mason and Slidell. Lord Palmerston defended the course pursued by the Government, and, in the course of his speech, said: Here, then, were the American public, the Government, a branch of the Legislature, all approving the act committed.
