City Council.
--The Council met yesterday afternoon at four o'clock. Present--Messrs. Saunders, Grillin, Wynne, Crutchfield, Talbott, Haskins, Burr, Denoon, Scott, Hill, Grattan and Glazabrook.
Mr. Grattan, from the Committee on Finance, reported adversely to several petitions referred to the Committee, including one fr uire into the expediency of so amending the ordinances as furnish the private hospitals, used for the sick and wounded, with gas and water, free of cost.
Mr. Saunders, one of the proxies representing the city in the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad company, made a verbal report of the commotion thereof.

Bank of Virginia.--Messrs. Haskins, Crutchfield, and Griffin.
Richmond and Danville Railroad Company.--Messrs. Hill, Stokes, and Wynne.
Virginia Central Railroad Company.--Messrs. Saunders, Burt, and Glazebrook.
On motion, the Council adjourned.
