covered by insurance. Shortly after the occurrence of the above, a fire broke out in the ter of small buildings on Governor street, above Franklin occupied as stables small shops and residences. Two of the buildings were partially destroyed — the stable and carriage house of Arthur Brown, a free man of color, and the shop and residence of Louis Benedict. Both parties saved nearly all their furniture. The buildings belonged to Mr. James H. Grant. The alarm of fire last night, about 8½ o'clock, was caused by the burning of a wooden shed on Virginia street, nearly opposite the north end of the Danville Railroad Depot, owned by Mr. Hugh Reagan, and occupied by Mr. John T. Head as a livery stable. The fire, which is supposed to have been accidentally communicated, was observed bursting out of the roof of the office, attached to the stable. The people residing in the vicinity succeeded in rescuing four horses, three carriages, and buggy, which were in the burning building

Coke for Reagan, and soon after the party appeared in Court, under militar The circumstances of the difficulty seem to be these: Reagan had loaned Baldwin and Roach money, and as they did not pang. Before the hour of trial Baldwin secured the arrest of Reagan as a conscript, and thus prevented his appearance at the hour appointed. Reagan and Baldwin have been, and probably are now, Government contractors, but not citizens of the Confederacy. Reagan is a member of the Mayor's Mounted Guard, now doing nightly service in the city.
