Stealing money. --A negro boy named Jno. West, son of Reuben West, the barber, was before the Mayor yesterday morning charged with stealing $60 in money from Mrs. Myer the night before. Mrs. M. deposed that between the hours of 6 and 7 o'clock she left her store to get a pound of coffee in an opposite one, and that on her return she saw the prisoner behind her counter, and saw him take $60 from the showcase, where she left it, and run off. She reported the facts to the watchmen, who soon after arrested the lad and searched him, but found no money. The accused says he can prove by four white boys that he was with them all the evening, and to give him an opportunity to do so, the investigation was adjourned until this morning.
