After Gen. Ward fell back twelve miles from Greensburg to Campbellsville, he dispatched one hundred and fifty cavalry about two o'clock on Saturday to reconnoitre the abandoned position, explore as far as possible, and as certain the numbers and location of the Confederates, intending to attempt a return yesterday, but the cavalry had not returned in the morning, when our informant left. Gen. Ward has about 2,000 regulars and 1,000 Home Guards at his disposal, under command of Cols. Grider, Harlan, Anderson, and Hobson.
