Freese in a soul-stirring speech, during which the speaker drew repeated cheers from the audience, and sat down amidst tremendous applause. He was followed by the Rev. Dr. J. C. Carver, chaplain of the seventeenth New York regiment, in an excellent and touching address, at the conclusion of which Col. J. R. Freese, in his official capacity of court judge, swore in above thirty new members.
