attention. After six months disability he returned to the college. In June, 1861, after the college company returned from Sullivan's island, a second company of students was formed, with Prof. C. S. Venable as captain and Iredell Jones as first lieutenant, but it was not accepted by Governor Pickens on account of the youth of most of its members.
