s. --Yesterday morning a young man named David Baum, a speculator in dry goods and fancy wares, ified that, on the morning of the 17th instant, Baum came into their store, and, approaching him famed his hand as an acquaintance. Supposing that Baum had mistaken him for his brother, Kull treated then return, pay the bill, and take them away. Baum went from there to another store, made another be packed with the goods purchased there. When Baum returned Kull required him to pay his bill befothe Express Company for them on their receipt. Baum desired to give a draft at one day's sight, but this not proving satisfactory to Kull, Baum said he would come over to Richmond, get the money, retoon, and pay the bills. Kull agreeing to this, Baum was allowed to take with him three pieces of coaiting forty-eight hours, and seeing nothing of Baum, Mr. Kull in the meantime hearing that he was v and had the accused party taken into custody.--Baum assured the Mayor that he designed nothing wron

The Prisons. --David Baum, charged with obtaining four pieces of calico, valued at $500, under false preferences, was yesterday committed to the cage; also, W. T. Vickers, a detective, charged with drawing a pistol and knife on John C. Taliaferro,-in the dining room of the Ballard House. At Castle Thunder another of the absconding deserters, who escaped on Friday night last, was brought in. This makes twenty-nine that have been recaptured, leaving six yet to hear from.
