he Superintendent, and the blanks in the bill were filled up as follows; 1st Assistant Superintendent, $1,000 per all other assistants $900, Surgeon, $1,000; Clerk, $1,000. Mr. Marye offered a provise, that the increased compensation should continue for one year after the term nation of the existing war and no longer, which was agreed to, and the bill, as thus perfected, passed 17. The General appropriation Bill, reported from the Senate with amendments was considered by the House, and after a few slight disagreements and amendments was returned to the Senate for its action. A message was received from the Senate announcing the passage, by that body, of a bill "to provide for the production and distribution of salt," reported from the joint committee with amendments and asking the concurrence of the House in the same. On motion of Mr. Barbour, the salt bill was taken up, discussed and amended until 3 o'clock, as which hour the their was vacated until o'clock.
