On the latter date another boat attack was made by General Gillmore's force against Fort Sumter, resulting in utter failure, as had been the case with the former attempt. The following is an extract from Mr. Charles Cowley's book, from which we have already had occasion to quote some passages: On the night of November 19th, 1863, General Gillmore made an attempt to surprise and capture Fort Sumter.
