A baker, of this city, a day or two since carried some forty, on the Metropolitan Savings Bank, to that institution, and discovered that they were all bogus. We have also heard that counterfeits are out on the Old Dominion Savings Bank, and it is presumed that the same game is played in other instances. We mention these facts for the sole purpose of breaking down this shinplaster business, and we shall not cease to make war upon it so long as one of the worthless rags is suffered to circulate in this city. The Grand Jury, unfortunately, does not meet until November; but in the meantime the people can do much towards crushing the monstrous evil, by refusing to receive an individual issue, for any consideration whatever. Somebody must suffer pecuniary loss eventually, and it might as well come to a catastrophe at once as six weeks or six months hence.
